Community effort strengthened as Navy renovates Chithambara College, Valvettithurai

In continuation of its commitment to community, the Sri Lanka Navy undertook a renovation and clean-up programme at Chithambara College, Valvettithurai in Jaffna on 26 Feb 25. The programme was conducted as part of the nationwide initiative to renovate schools under the “Clean Sri Lanka” project.

As a key contributor in the "Clean Sri Lanka" campaign, the Sri Lanka Navy has stepped forward to support the government’s vision of a “Beautiful Island, Smiling People.” Consequently, the Ministry of Defence is overseeing the cleaning and renovation of 200 selected school premises across the country. This effort is part of the broader programme to develop infrastructure in 1,000 schools. The project is being carried out with the technical expertise and manpower enabled by the Tri-Forces.

In line with the directives from the Navy Commander, the Northern Naval Command actively supported this initiative by providing both technical expertise and manpower. Their efforts aimed to create a cleaner and healthier environment conducive to teaching and learning at the school.
