Navy extends helping hand for Beira Lake restoration initiatives
The Sri Lanka Navy enabled its manpower and craft for a clean-up drive at Beira Lake and its surrounding this morning (06 Feb 25). The programme was organised by Western Province Waste Management Authority, in support of the government's "Clean Sri Lanka" project, launched under the vision "Beautiful Island, Smiling People.”
The two-day programme will be augmented by personnel from Tri- Services and Civil Security Department (CSD). The cleaning project aims to preserve the biodiversity of Beira Lake, enhance its scenic beauty, and systematically remove waste, ultimately making it a more attractive destination for tourists.
Meanwhile, the Navy is prepared to contribute its expertise and skilled workforce to support key national initiatives of this nature.
