12th Indian Navy – Sri Lanka Navy Staff Talks concludes in New Delhi
12th Navy to Navy Staff Talks between Indian Navy and Sri Lanka Navy came to a successful end in New Delhi, India on 20th December 2024. The three-day event, which began on 18th December, aimed to strengthen cooperation between the two neighboring navies.
The Sri Lanka Navy delegation attending the Staff Talks was led by Director General Training Rear Admiral Dammika Wijewardena, whereas the Indian Navy delegation was led by Rear Admiral Nirbhay Bapna.
Discussions during the Staff Talks began with a review of progress made since the 10th edition. Key topics included enhancing bilateral relations, fostering cooperation and interoperability, conducting joint training programmes, sharing knowledge and information, and planning collaborative exercises to bolster maritime security in the Indian Ocean region.
Representing Sri Lanka at the Staff Talks were Minister-Counsellor at the Sri Lanka High Commission in New Delhi, Commodore Indika De Silva, Captain (E) Dinuk Bogahawatta, and Commander (N) Asantha Watagoda.
