A blood donation campaign held in Naval Hospital Northern Command

Coinciding with the 74th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy and the 30th SLNS Uththara Day, a blood donation campaign was held at the Naval Hospital of Northern Command on 18th December 2024.

As part of the anniversary celebrations held on 09th December, the Navy has prioritized community service and religious activities. On the sidelines of these programmes and the 30th SLNS Uththara Day (01st January), this blood donation campaign was organized by the Northern Naval Command, in coordination with the staffs of the Blood Transfusion Centers of Teaching Hospital - Jaffna and Base Hospital – Thellippale.

Organized under the guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, and the supervision of Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Thushara Karunathunga, the initiative reflected the Navy’s commitment to social responsibility. The event was overseen by Acting Command Medical Officer (North), Surgeon Lieutenant Commander Vishma Ranasinghe. The event witnessed voluntary participation, with 248 personnel from ships, craft and establishments belonging to the Northern Naval Command donating blood to support this life saving effort.
