Sri Lanka Navy hosts Colombo tour and dragon boat training for Delft students

Under the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Sri Lanka Navy hosted a memorable Colombo tour and dragon boat training for 30 students from Delft Maha Vidyalaya, Jaffna, on 13th and 14th December 2024. These students were champions of the 8th Canoe Sprint National Championship in the School Division Dragon Boat event.

The sightseeing tour included visits to Lanka Milk Foods in Welisara, Colombo Port, Colombo National Museum, Dehiwala Zoo, Lotus Tower, and St. Anthony's Church, Kochchikade.

The students also participated in an engaging dragon boat training session at the Diwawanna Water Sports Centre, Battaramulla, organized by the Navy.

To conclude the two-day event, a special dinner was held at Wave N’ Lake Navy Hall, Welisara. The occasion was graced by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera and President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Mala Lamahewa. Former Navy Commanders Admiral Jayanath Colombage (Retd), Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne (Retd), Admiral Piyal De Silva (Retd) as well as Commander Western Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe, along with senior naval officers, were also in attendance.
