Navy’s 74th Anniversary celebrated with blood donation campaign at Navy General Hospital, Colombo

To commemorate the Sri Lanka Navy's 74th Anniversary, a blood donation drive was held at the Navy General Hospital, Colombo on 12th December 2024.

As part of the anniversary celebrations held on 09th December, the Navy has prioritized community service and religious activities. On the sidelines of these programmes, this blood donation campaign was organized by the Western Naval Command, to replenish blood stocks for the Regional Blood Center at Colombo North Teaching Hospital (Ragama).

Organized under the guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, and the supervision of Commander Western Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe, the initiative reflected the Navy’s commitment to social responsibility. The event was supervised by Commodore Superintendent Health (West), Surgeon Commodore Dharmapriya Chandraguptha.

The event witnessed voluntary participation, with 159 personnel from ships, craft and establishments belonging to the Western Naval Command donating blood to support this life saving effort.
