Twenty one (21) Navy officers successfully complete Course No 18 of Defence Services Command and Staff College

The graduation ceremony of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Sapugaskanda Course No 18 was held at Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre on 12th December 2024. The event, honored by the presence of the Hon. Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), as the Chief Guest, also saw the attendance of the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, who represented the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.

The Course No 18 of DSCSC commenced on 06th January 2024. A total of 150 officers comprising of 78 officers from the Sri Lanka Army, 21 officers from the Sri Lanka Navy, 26 officers from the Sri Lanka Air Force as well as 19 Army, 03 Navy and 03 Air Force officers representing Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, United States and Zambia completed this year’s course.

Upon successful completion of the course of study, 21 officers of the Sri Lanka Navy were conferred the ‘psc’ (Passed Staff College) qualification. Stealing the spotlight at the graduation ceremony, Lieutenant Commander (N) Dananjaya Rodrigo clinched the Commandant’s Honours Award and Golden Owl Award. In addition, Lieutenant Commander (E) Prasad Chamara secured the Golden Pen Award.

The Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, Commandant Defence Services Command & Staff College (DSCSC), Major General Kapila Dolage, Vice Chancellor of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara (Retd), academic and directing staff of DSCSC and officers of Course No 18 were also present on this occasion.
