Charity group led by Venerable Thich Phuoc Tan visits ‘Anchorage’ Naval Care Centre in Welisara

A charity group led by Venerable Thich Phuoc Tan from Australia, comprising 42 members, visited ‘Anchorage’ – the Naval Care Centre in Welisara on 10th December 2024. The group’s visit was driven by a noble mission to support wounded-in-action veterans and enhance their quality of life.

Upon their arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda. During the visit, the delegation extended financial assistance, worth Rs. 2 million to the Naval Welfare Fund, aimed at fabricating new prostheses for the wounded war veterans.

Marking the significance of this occasion, Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda presented a memento to Venerable Thich Phuoc Tan. The Commander Western Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe and a group of officers from the Navy Headquarters and Western Naval Command were present on this occasion.
