MCPO PRMGB Pussalamankada appointed as Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy
Master Chief Petty Officer PRMGB Pussalamankada was appointed to the position of Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) effective from 29th November 2024. Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera congratulated the senior sailor and handed over the arm band and baton, symbolic of the position to him at the Navy Headquarters.
As Master Chief Petty Officer WMGN Kumara, who previously served as the MCPON, is set to retire from the Navy, Master Chief Petty Officer PRMGB Pussalamankada, was appointed as the new MCPON. Appreciative of his services, the Commander of the Navy congratulated the outgoing Master Chief Petty Officer WMGN Kumara as well .
The Navy aims to enhance the focus on sailors' welfare, training, and administrative functions by instituting this new role. Through established channels, the objective is to ensure that these concerns reach the Commander of the Navy, thereby facilitating more efficient resolution of such matters. In addition, the designated senior sailor will serve as the foremost sailor of the Navy in official ceremonies, drills, and similar events.
The Director General Personnel, Rear Admiral Ravindra Tissera and a group of senior officers from the Navy Headquarters were also present on this occasion.
