Navy hosts 74th Anniversary Get-together on grand note at Wave n' Lake Navy Hall
The 74th Anniversary Get-together of Sri Lanka Navy was held on a colourful note at the Wave n' Lake Navy Hall on 22nd November 2024. The Anniversary Get-together was yet another segment of a wide-ranging programmes organised by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions, to mark its 74th Anniversary. At the invitation of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera and the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Mala Lamahewa the occasion was graced by the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) along with his spouse. The occasion was also distinguished by the presence of Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa along with their spouses, Acting Director General of Police, Priyantha Weerasooriya, former Navy Commanders and invited guests.
This cordial gathering was held to express gratitude towards retired senior officers and acknowledge the contributions of serving senior and junior officers from various naval commands, in attendance. It is also an annual tradition that strengthens the bonds and camaraderie within the naval family. The evening was further enlivened by captivating performances from the Navy Band and Cultural Troupe.
During the event, valuable prizes were awarded to lucky winners chosen through fun-filled events and a raffle draw. The prizes were sponsored by the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Naval Welfare Directorate and sponsors.
Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, Area Commanders including Deputy Chief of Staff and Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando, Commander Western Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe, senior officers from tri services, diplomatic corps, retired senior officers, executive committee members of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, serving senior and junior officers were also present on this occasion.
