Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris honoured in farewell salute

The Sri Lanka Navy today (05th November 2024) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris who relinquished his duties to which he was committed over the past 34 years in the Sri Lanka Navy.

On his 55th birthday and retirement, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, joined the Board of Management in extending warm wishes to the departing senior officer. Subsequently, Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris was honoured with a traditional Guard of Honour. As the event wrapped up, fellow naval officers gathered for a formal farewell, sending him off in a motorcade, with the cheers of naval personnel echoing around.

Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 8th intake of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University in 1990. His career spans key command roles in naval establishments and ships. Notable appointments include Senior Staff Officer (Recruiting), Deputy Training Commander & Coordinator Junior Naval Staff Course, Head of Training Team at Defence Services Command and Staff College, Director Naval Operations, Director Marine Special Forces, Director Naval Foreign Cooperation & Director Naval Maritime Surveillance, Deputy Area Commander Southern Naval Area and Port Facility Security Officer (Galle), Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Director General Operations and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy.
