Certificate awarding of Research and Development Orientation Course 2024 held in Welisara

The Research and Development (R&D) Orientation Course 2024, held from 21st to 30th October, 2024, effectively trained and inspired sailors in the field of R&D in the Sri Lanka Navy. A certificate awarding ceremony marked the course's conclusion on 30th October, held at the Conference Hall of the Research and Development Unit at SLNS Thakshila, Welisara.

The course aimed to fulfill the R&D personnel requirements, under the guidance of Director Naval Policy and Plans, Commodore Dumindu Abewikrama. The training curriculum covered essential topics, including basic technological trends in electronics, computer programming, embedded systems, printed circuit development, and mobile application development. The programme also featured training on modern technological advancements, including the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence, and Prompt Engineering, preparing the participants for future challenges in the field of research and development.

Senior and junior sailors from various branches such as Electrical, Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Seaman took part in this programme. Captain Hemantha Ranasingha, Deputy Director Naval Policy and Plans, Commander (E) Buddhika Randimal, Deputy Director Naval (Research and Development) and a group of officers from RDU were present on this occasion to award certificates.
