Navy conducts diving medicine training programme for medical officers of Ministry of Health
In response to a request from the Ministry of Health, the Sri Lanka Navy conducted two workshops for a group of medical officers about diving, marine and hyperbaric medicine training. The workshops were conducted at the Diving Unit in the Eastern Naval Command from 07th to 09th June and on 26th and 27th October 2024.
In an initiative to strengthen diving, marine and hyperbaric medicine expertise within Sri Lanka, the workshops were conducted following the directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera. The workshops offered participants a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, tailored to address the unique medical needs, emergencies associated with diving.
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera also attended these events. Acting Commodore Superintendent of Health (East), Surgeon Captain Duminda Samarawickrama, Area Diving Medical Officer (East), Surgeon Lieutenant Lahiru Nawagamuwa and a group of diving professionals from the Navy Diving Unit shared their knowledge in these workshops.
