Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association pins poppy flower on Commander of the Navy recollecting memories of fallen war heroes

In view of the poppy flower campaign launched to commemorate fallen war heroes, the President of Ex-Servicemen’s Association, Lieutenant Colonel Ajith Siyambalapitiya (Retd) pinned a poppy flower on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters today (23rd October 2024).

The Poppy Flower Campaign was first introduced to honour war veterans who lost their lives in World War I and II. Sri Lanka also embraced this tradition to pay tribute to the courageous men who made the ultimate sacrifice for the motherland. As part of this year’s Poppy Day observance, the President of the Ex-Servicemen's Association ceremonially pinned a poppy flower on the Commander of the Navy today.

A group of members of the Ex-Servicemen’s association were also present on this occasion.
