Task Force to Combat the Use of Poisonous and Dangerous Drugs to conduct all Island Art and Video Animation competition

The Task Force to Combat the Use of Poisonous and Dangerous Drugs is set to conduct an all Island Art and Video Animation competition under the theme “EMPOWERING CHILDREN AND YOUTH FOR BRIGHT FUTURE WITHOUT DRUGS”. This competition, organized for school children and the youth community, is scheduled for November 2024 and submission of creations will be accepted until 31st October.

Going by directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera who is also the Chairman of the Task Force to Combat the Use of Poisonous and Dangerous Drugs, the competition is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Science & Technology, Ministry of Health, National Dangerous Drugs Control Board, Colombo Plan and Dialog Axiata PLC.

The Art competition is divided into two categories: the first for students in grades 6 to 8, and the second for students in grades 9 to 11. The Animation Video competition will be divided into two categories: the first for students in Grades 10 to 13, and the second for participants aged 19 to 30. Arrangements have been made to present valuable cash prizes and merit certificates to the winners of the first and second categories in the Art and Animation Video competition. Additionally, winners in the Video Animation category, aged 19 to 30, will be awarded valuable mobile phones.

Since 50% of the financial prizes from the animation video competition will go to the schools represented by the winners, encouraging schoolchildren to participate not only empowers the youth for a drug-free future but also brings recognition and financial benefits to their schools.
