Commander of the Navy participates in formal duty assumption of new Defence Secretary

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera on 23rd September 2024 participated in the formal duty assumption of the new Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd). The President, Hon. Anura Kumara Dissanayake appointed Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) as the new Secretary to the Ministry of Defence.

Shortly after taking office at Defence Headquarters, Akuregoda, the Defence Secretary held a special meeting with key defence officials, including the Additional Secretaries of the Defence Ministry, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Tri-Forces Commanders.

The event was also attended by the Secretary of the Public Security Ministry, along with several other officials.
