Navy assists conduct of holy festival of Verugalampati Sri Chitravelayuthar Swamy Temple in Verugal
The annual holy festival at the historic Verugalampati Sri Chitravelayuthar Swamy Temple in Verugal concluded on 18th September 2024. The 14-day festival, celebrated in reverence of God Murugan, saw a large gathering of devotees. The Navy provided essential lifesaving services to those participating in the religious rituals at the Verugal Aru.
The temple being situated at the bank of Verugal Aru, the religious festival was assisted with lifesavers and boats from the Rapid Action Boat Squadron of the Sri Lanka Navy, securing the safety of devotees during the rituals, at the directives of Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando.
