Navy bids adieu to Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana
The Sri Lanka Navy today (13th September 2024) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana who relinquished his duties to which he was committed over the past 36 years in the Sri Lanka Navy.
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera along with the Board of Management, extended best wishes to the retiring senior officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. As the customary event drew to a close, fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer, before he was sent off in a motorcade amidst the cheers of naval personnel.
Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 18th intake in 1988. Throughout his distinguished career, the senior officer has occupied various commanding roles at both establishments and ships. Among some of the other key appointments he held, Command Operations Officer (East), Training Captain SLNS Nipuna, Captain Operational Department (North), Naval Officer in Charge (Hambantota) and Port Facility Security Officer (Hambantota), Director Naval Administration, Deputy Area Commander Eastern Naval Area and Port Facility Security Officer (Trincomalee), Deputy Director General and Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard stood prominent.
