A veteran Navy member meets Commander of the Navy

In a moment of great significance, Petty Officer BAD Wijethilaka (Retd), who served in the Royal Ceylon Navy, met with the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, at Navy Headquarters today (12th September 2024).

Petty Officer Wijethilaka, who enlisted in the Royal Ceylon Navy in 1951 and served until 1977, was part of the initial crew of the Navy’s first ship, "Vijaya."

Upon his arrival, the veteran was warmly received at Naval Headquarters, where he engaged in a cordial conversation with the Commander of the Navy. In recognition of his dedicated service, a commemorative memento was also presented to him.

Chief Inspector of Police, BCTT Wijethilaka, the son of Petty Officer Wijethilaka, also attended the event.
