New RO plant declared open at Naval Detachment Kirindioya

A new Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, installed as part of the Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) project, was declared open at the Naval Detachment Kirindioya of SLNS Kawanthissa on 10th September 2024. The opening was held under the patronage of Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Chandima Silva.

Following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Sri Lanka Navy enables its manpower and industrial expertise for the installation of RO plants, through the Naval Research and Development Unit. Accordingly, this initiative marked the establishment of the 1,025th RO plant by the Sri Lanka Navy.

The new facility will now readily provide safe drinking water to the naval personnel of Naval Detachment Kirindioya. Heads of Departments of the Southern Naval Command, Commanding Officer SLNS Kawanthissa, Commodore Anil Wasantha, officers and sailors were present on this occasion.
