Instructor Lieutenant Commander Somasiri Devendra (Retd) felicitated by Naval & Maritime Academy

The Naval & Maritime Academy (NMA) on 08th September 2024 held a grand felicitation ceremony to honour Instructor Lieutenant Commander Somasiri Devendra (Retd), the 6th Commandant of the academy. The event, hosted at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium, NMA, took place under the distinguished patronage of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.

Upon his arrival, Instructor Lieutenant Commander Somasiri Devendra (Retd) and his spouse were warmly welcomed by the Commander of the Navy. The ensuing ceremony highlighted his significant contributions during his tenure as the 6th Commandant of the Naval & Maritime Academy.

In conjunction with the felicitation, the Commander of the Navy officially launched the newly developed website of the Graduate Training Centre. Lieutenant Commander Devendra (Retd) was also given the honour of launching the Learning Management System's website, marking a significant step forward in the academy’s educational resources. During the event, Instructor Lieutenant Commander Somasiri Devendra (Retd) along with his spouse and daughter, were presented with special mementoes.

The President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Mala Lamahewa, Commander Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Damian Fernando, Director General Training, Rear Admiral Buddhika Liyanagamage, Commandant NMA, Commodore Rohan Joseph, officers and sailors were also present on this occasion.
