Dental Surgery Unit at SLNS Uththara declared open

The Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Rohitha Abeysinghe declared open the Command Dental Surgery Unit of the Northern Naval Command at SLNS Uththara on 06th September 2024.

Since 1997, the Northern Naval Command's Dental Surgery Unit was based at SLNS Elara. To streamline administrative procedures and improve access to dental services for naval personnel, the facility has now been relocated to SLNS Uththara.

Following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, and under the guidance of the Commander Northern Naval Area, the Command Civil Engineering Department undertook the construction of the project. The facility repurposed a building that had previously been used for quarantining individuals infected with COVID-19.

The Deputy Area Commander Northern Naval Area, Commodore Jayantha Bandara, Director Naval Dental Services, Surgeon Commodore Nayana Wijedoru and a group of officers and sailors from the Northern Naval Command were present on this occasion.
