Navy upholds longstanding traditional service for St. Anne's National Shrine feast

The annual feast of St. Anne's National Shrine in Thalawila, Kalpitiya, was celebrated with great success on 04th August 2024, drawing a large number of devotees. The special service was conducted by the Bishop of Chilaw, Rt. Rev. Don Wimal Sri Jayasooriya. Maintaining the longstanding tradition, the Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance for the successful conduct of the proceedings of celebrations.

Accordingly, Sri Lanka Navy contributed in supporting the procession by carrying the statue of St. Anne, as it has been the practice for more than two decades. Additionally, the Navy provided essential security and lifesaving assistance, ensuring the smooth conduct of this year's church feast.

Among the attendees were the Commander North Central Naval Area and President of the Sri Lanka Navy Christian Council, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando, along with a group of officers and sailors who participated in the main mass.

The Chief Priest of St. Anne's Shrine, Thalawila, along with the devotees, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Commander of the Navy and naval personnel for their assistance in making the event a resounding success.
