Solar-powered golf cart introduced at Navy Aqua Golf Driving Range

In a significant move towards sustainable practices, the Sri Lanka Navy introduced a newly restored solar-powered golf cart at the Navy Aqua Golf Driving Range in Welisara. The event was held under the patronage of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera on 02nd August 2024.

The Navy had originally obtained two golf carts beyond repair from Neat Solutions (Pvt) Ltd. The innovative restoration project was undertaken by the Navy's Research and Development Unit, following the directives of the Commander of the Navy. Through the dedicated efforts of the Research and Development Unit, one of the two carts was successfully restored to operational status within five months, equipped with solar power capabilities.

The Commander of the Navy handed over the restored golf cart to Director General Services, Rear Admiral Priyal Withanage, for use at the Navy Aqua Golf Driving Range.

Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe, Director Naval Policy & Plans, Commodore Danesh Pathberiya, Naval Officer in Charge (Welisara), Commodore Buddhika Jayaweera, Deputy Director Navy Research and Development Unit, Commander Buddhika Randimal, Managing Director Neat Solutions (Pvt) Ltd., Commander DVCB Paulis (Retd) and members of its staff were present on this occasion.
