Newly renovated Naval pilgrim house of St. Anne’s Shrine Thalawila opened

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera opened the newly renovated Naval pilgrim house of St. Anne’s Shrine Thalawila in Kalpitiya on 25th July 2024. This particular pilgrim house is allocated to both serving and retired officers and sailors who come to pay homage to the St. Anne’s Shrine Thalawila. The renovation work was carried out utilizing funds made possible by the Sri Lanka Navy Christian Council as well as manpower and industrial expertise enabled by the Navy.

Following the directives of the Commander of the Navy, renovation work on this pilgrim house began in May 2024. Upon its swift completion, the facility was officially opened under the patronage of Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.

Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Lyle Fernando, Commander North Central Naval Area and President of the Sri Lanka Navy Christian Council, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando, Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Nalindra Jayasinghe, Director General Personnel, Rear Admiral Ravindra Tissera, Naval Assistant to the Commander of the Navy Rear Admiral Kosala Warnakulsooriya, Director General Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Rear Admiral Prashantha Anthony, the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Mala Lamahewa and a group of officers from the Navy Headquarters and Northwestern Naval Command were present on this occasion.
