Navy-built “Sanghawasa” building of Ilangamgoda Purana Raja Maha Viharaya, Kamburupitiya declared open
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera declared open the “Sanghawasa” building of Ilangamgoda Purana Raja Maha Viharaya in Sapugoda, Kamburupitiya today (24th July 2024). The Sri Lanka Navy enabled its industrial expertise and manpower for the construction of this “Sanghawasa” building.
Following the directives of the Commander of the Navy and seeking the wise counsel of Agga Maha Pandita Ven. Omare Kassapa Anu Nahimi, the Chief Incumbent of Ilangamgoda Purana Raja Maha Viharaya, the Navy enabled its industrial expertise and manpower for the construction of this building. The construction work of the project got underway on 21st June 2023. Upon completion of the construction, it was vested with the Ven. Maha Sangha. The building encompasses a kitchen, a store room and a hall of residence for Samanera monks.
Members of Ven. Maha Sangha, Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Chandima Silva, Acting Director General Civil Engineering, Commodore Ravi Gunasinghe, officers from the Navy Headquarters and Southern Naval Command and a group of devotees were also present on this occasion.
