Chief of Defence Forces, Seychelles leaves the island concluding official visit
Brigadier Michael Rosette, Chief of Defence Forces, Seychelles who arrived in Sri Lanka on 14th July 2024 on an official visit, left for the Seychelles from the Bandaranaike International Airport this morning (21st July).
During this visit, Brigadier Michael Rosette called on the President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Chief of Staff and National Security Advisor to the President, Mr Sagala Ratnayaka, the State Minister of Defence, Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, the Defence Secretary, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), the Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva and the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera and held discussions on matters of bilateral importance.
Moreover, the Chief of Defence Forces, Seychelles took time off to visit the Naval Boat Building Yard in Welisara and General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. Visiting tourist attractions in Pinnawala, Peradeniya, Sigiriya, Trincomalee and paying homage to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy had also been in his itinerary.
In addition, Brigadier Michael Rosette graced a commissioning parade of Midshipmen at the Naval & Maritime Academy in Trincomalee, as the Guest of Honour. He also presided over the certificate awarding of Maritime Boarding Exercise with Radiological & Nuclear Incident Scenario Course, at the Special Boat Squadron Headquarters in Trincomalee.
During this official visit, a special programme was organized for Mrs Marie Sandra Rosette, the spouse of the Seychelles Chief of Defense Forces, led by Mrs Mala Lamahewa, President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit.
Official visits of this nature will significantly aid in addressing common maritime challenges in the ocean region by fostering enhanced cooperation and strengthening friendly international relations.
