Commander of the Navy opens 3rd day of Diyawanna Vesak Zone

The Diyawanna Vesak Zone, organised by the Ministry of Defence and Independent Television Network (ITN), got off the ground to celebrate this year’s Vesak festival. The third day of the Vesak Zone was opened by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera on 25th May 2024.

The proceedings of the event commenced with the lighting of traditional oil lamp. The Commander of the Navy illuminated the Vesak designs and decorations showcased by the tri forces in the Diyawanna Vesak Zone, spanning Densil Kobbekaduwa Mawatha and Battaramulla Defence Ministry Road. The Vesak Zone was also made more colourful by devotional songs (Vesak Bakthi Gee) and cultural events presented by the tri forces.

The Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Pradeep Rathnayake, Director Generals, senior officers from tri services, other ranks and a large group of people were also present on this occasion.
