34th JNSC concludes with graduation ceremony at NMA
The 34th Junior Naval Staff Course (JNSC-34) came to a successful end at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA). The graduation ceremony of JNSC-34 was held on 17th May 2024 under the patronage of Commander Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, at the invitation of Commandant NMA Rear Admiral Buddhika Liyanagamage.
The rigorous academic and professional training programme of JNSC, held at the Naval and Maritime Academy, is designed to prepare mid-career officers for future leadership roles within the Sri Lanka Navy and broader defence services.
A total of 21 officers graduated from JNSC 34 including 02 officers from the Indian Navy and an officer each from the Sri Lanka Army and the Sri Lanka Air Force, apart from seventeen officers from the Sri Lanka Navy. During the ceremony, several Student Officers were awarded with special awards for their exceptional achievements. Accordingly, Lieutenant Commander EMMVR Wickramage was awarded as the First in Overall Order of Merit, Highest Aggregate in Academic Subjects, and Best Public Speaker. Lieutenant Commander LP Wedisinghe received the award for the Best Commandant’s Service Paper. Meanwhile, the special award for the Best International Student Officer was secured by Commander Rajeev Ranjan from the Indian Navy.
Officers from the Eastern Naval Command, Directing Staff of JNSC, officers from sister services, and family members of the student officers were also present on this occasion.
