Rear Admiral Rohitha Abeysinghe assumes command of Northern Naval Command

Rear Admiral Rohitha Abeysinghe, who was newly appointed as Commander Northern Naval Area, assumed duties at the Command Headquarters today (13th May 2024).

The incoming Commander was received to the Northern Naval Command in compliance with naval traditions. Thereafter, Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda who previously held the office, relinquished his duties upon formally handing over them to his successor.

Meanwhile, the senior officers of the Northern Naval Command congratulated the outgoing Commander for his service and bade him customary farewell on his departure. Rear Admiral Banagoda is expected to assume duties as Commander Eastern Naval Area in due course.
