Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy
Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy effective from 04th April 2024. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera formally handed over the letter of appointment to Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe at the Navy Headquarters on 08th April 2024 and expressed his best wishes to the newly appointed Deputy Chief of Staff.
Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe is a proud product of Ananda College, Colombo. He joined the Engineering Branch of the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 19th intake in 1989. Upon successful completion of his basic naval training at SLNS Gemunu, he was commissioned in the rank of Sub Lieutenant in 1991. He completed his Basic Engineering Course in India in 1989 and completed the Marine Engineering Specialisation Course in India in 1994. Progressing steadily in his naval career, the senior officer was promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral on 20th April 2018.
During his distinguished naval career, Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe has served as Deputy Director Marine Engineering, Deputy Director Dockyard (West), Deputy Director Engineering (New Construction), Deputy Superiendent Dockyard (East), Director Engineering Service, Commodore Superiendent Dockyard ((North Central), Commodore Superiendent Dockyard (North), Director Marine Engineering and Director General Engineering.
Meanwhile, Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe assumed the office as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy today (09th April). Accordingly, he will discharge duties as Deputy Chief of Staff, concurrently holding the appointment of Director General Engineering.
