SLN Electronic Library Management System and Nav 206 System launched

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera officially launched the Sri Lanka Navy Electronic Library Management System and Nav 206 System at the meeting held with the Board of Management, Area Authorities and Board of Directors in the Navy Headquarters today (13th March 2024).

Going by an idea mooted by the Commander of the Navy, these systems were launched, aiming at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness within its operations. Accordingly, the Electronic Library Management System will provide sailors and officers with easy access to a wealth of information and the Nav 206 System will focus on more efficient submission of officers' annual assessment reports in a confidential manner. The two systems are handled by the staff of the Information Technology branch.

The Navy expects that the newly introduced Nav 206 System will make the submission of annual assessment reports of officers more efficient and effective, and it would also promote a paperless environment in the Navy.

The electronic library management system is a very popular system among the new generation and is widely utilized worldwide. Consequently, the Navy plans to utilize this system to introduce a curated selection of reading materials to junior officers and sailors of all rates. Those naval personnel may access elms.navy.lk and refer to such materials.

With the introduction of this concept, the Navy aims to develop proficient leaders through the acquisition of new knowledge.
