Navy-built 995th RO plant declared open at Serana Primary School in Mahiyangana
Another Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, built as part of the Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) project of the Sri Lanka Navy, was declared open at the Serana Primary School in Arawatta, Mahiyangana on 21st February 2024. This is the 995th RO plant built by the Navy going by its magnanimous NSR initiative.
Following the directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Sri Lanka Navy enabled its manpower and industrial expertise for the construction of this RO plant. Accordingly, this valuable project, which addressed a longstanding necessity, came to fruition at Serana Primary School. It was undertaken as part of the Ministry of Health's initiatives and financial support of generous donors.
The new facility will easily meet the need for safe drinking water for both the school children and the village community of Serana.
Government officials in the area, naval personnel from Southeastern Naval Command, Mahiyanganaya Zonal Director of Education, principal and the teaching staff of Serana Primary School, children and residents were also present on this occasion.
