Navy donates electric wheelchair to disabled child of retired junior sailor

In a heartwarming gesture, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera extended a helping hand to a family of a retired junior sailor by donating an electric wheelchair to their disabled child. The donation took place at the Navy Headquarters today (01st February 2024).

The retired Leading Infantryman LMG Dissanayake has made the request for an electric wheelchair, through the Naval Association, for the use of his child who is down with disability.

Listening to the plea, the electric wheelchair was made utilizing funds from the Naval Social Responsibility Fund and skillfully crafted by the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department.

Director General Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Rear Admiral Viraj Leelarathna, Director General Services, Rear Admiral Priyal Vithana and a group of officers were present on the occasion.
