Four-storeyed Sanghawasa of Panchathuparama Purana Maha Viharaya in Thotagoda, Akmeemana declared open
The four- storeyed Sanghawasa of Panchathuparama Purana Maha Viharaya in Thotagoda, Akmeemana, constructed utilizing skilled labour and industrial expertise enabled by the Navy, was declared open by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera today (27th January 2024). The spiritual ceremony, held amidst the blessings of venerable Maha Sangha, including the Anunayake of Malwatta Chapter Most Venerable Niyangoda Dharmakeerthi Sri Sangharakkitha Vijithasiri Abhidana Thera, was graced by the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Hon. Vidura Wickremanayake and Minister of Health, Hon. Ramesh Pathirana.
The construction of the four-storeyed Sanghawasa commenced in April 2019, and it progressed with skilled labour and industrial expertise facilitated by the Civil Engineering Department of the Southern Naval Command, following the counsel of Ven. Akmeemana Piyarathnabhidana Nayaka Thera. At the guidance of the Commander of the Navy and under the supervision of Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe, the construction project reached its conclusion successfully. In addition, the Navy also enabled manpower to erect the retaining wall next to the Sanghawasa and colourwash the Panchathuparama Purana Maha Viharaya completely.
The opening was held in parallel with the welcome ceremony of Saddharma Keerthi Sri Dammadinna Aththadassi Ven. Akmeemana Piyarathnabhidana Nayaka Thera who was appointed as Chief Sangha Nayake of Malwatta Chapter for Galle and Matara.
Commander Southern Naval Area, naval personnel from the Southern Naval Command and devotees were also present on this occasion.
