33rd Junior Naval Staff Course concludes in Trincomalee
The 33rd Junior Naval Staff Course (JNSC) successfully concluded at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) in Trincomalee on 18th November 2023. The certificate awarding ceremony, held at the auditorium of NMA, was graced by Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva, as the Chief Guest, at the invitation of Commandant NMA, Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage.
The Junior Naval Staff Course is held every year at the Naval and Maritime Academy with the objective of molding knowledgeable leaders capable of navigating the challenges confronted by junior officers. These leaders are expected to shoulder the responsibility of making strategic decisions essential for the efficient and effective execution of Navys' role and task.
The course commenced on 11th July 2023 with seventeen (17) student officers including one (01) officer from the Sri Lanka Army, one (01) officer from the Sri Lanka Air Force and fifteen (15) officers from the Sri Lanka Navy. Lieutenant Commander NN Wickramasooriya was honoured with prestigious awards of the First Overall Merit, Highest Aggregate in Academic Subjects and Best Commandant’s Service Paper while Lieutenant Commander DJKS Siriwardana secured the award for Best Public Speaker.
Officers from the Eastern Naval Command and Sri Lanka Air Force, Directing Staff of JNSC and the families of the Student Officers were also present on this occasion.
