Rear Admiral Saman Perera takes over command of Western Naval Area

Rear Admiral Saman Perera who was newly appointed as Commander Western Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, assumed duties of Commander Western Naval Area at the Command Headquarters today (01st September 2023).

The incoming Commander was warmly received to the Western Naval Command in compliance with naval tradition. Thereafter, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva who previously held the office, relinquished his duties upon formally handing over them to his successor.

Meanwhile, the senior officers of the Western Naval Command congratulated the outgoing Commander for his service and bade him customary farewell on his departure. Further, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva will assume duties as Commander Eastern Naval Area in due course.
