Navy bids adieu to Rear Admiral Senarupa Jayawardana

The Sri Lanka Navy today (01st September 2023) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Senarupa Jayawardana who relinquished his naval duties to which he was committed for over thirty-eight (38) years.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera along with the Board of Management extended best wishes to the retiring senior officer who is celebrating his 63rd birthday today. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Senarupa Jayawardana was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval tradition.

Rear Admiral Senarupa Jayawardana joined the Medical Branch of Sri Lanka Navy as a Direct Entry officer in 1985 and held a range of Medical Branch appointments in the Eastern, Northern, and Western Naval Commands during his naval career. Among some of the key appointments he held; Command Medical Officer (East), Command Medical Officer (West), Command Medical Department (West), Command Medical Department (East), Deputy Director Naval Medical Services, Director Naval Medical Services, Commodore Superintendent of Health (West), Director Naval Medical Services (Preventive and Rehabilitation), Director General Health Services and Principal Advisor to the Commander of the Navy on Prevention of Spreading COVID-19, Health and Nutation of Naval Personnel and Prevention of Spreading Communicable Disease and Principal Advisor to the Commander of the Navy were prominent.
