U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen meets with Commander of the Navy

A delegation headed by the United States Senator Chris Van Hollen met with the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera on board SLNS Gajabahu in Colombo today (30th August 2023). The visit is part of the United States assistance programmes in the region and to discuss opportunities to enhance cooperation. U.S. Ambassador in Colombo H.E. Juli Chung was also present on this occasion.

Upon their arrival, the U.S. delegation received a cordial welcome on board SLNS Gajabahu. The subsequent conversation between the delegation members and the Commander of the Navy primarily centered around various bilateral topics of significance.

The formal discussion came to an end with an exchange of mementoes, highlighting the significance of this occasion. The Deputy Chief of Staff and Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Pradeep Rathnayake, Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva, Naval Assistant to the Commander of the Navy and Chief Hydrographer of the Sri Lanka Navy, Commodore Kosala Warnakulasooriya and Naval Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Colombo, Lieutenant Commander Jessica De Mont were present on this occasion.
