Navy bids farewell to Rear Admiral Nishantha Amarosa
After 35 years of exceptional service and remarkable contribution to the Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Nishantha Amarosa bade farewell to his illustrious naval career today (23rd July 2023).
Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera along with the Board of Management conveyed their warm wishes to the retiring officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Nishantha Amarosa was accorded a Guard of Honour in precision with naval tradition. As the customary event concluded, fellow naval officers bade their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer, before he departed from the premises amidst the cheers of naval personnel.
Rear Admiral Nishantha Amarosa joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 18th intake in 1988. During his illustrious career, he served in command appointments onboard ships and at shore-establishments. Apart from that, Senior Staff Officer (Naval Examination and Curricular), Command Operation Officer (Northwest), Area Media Coordinator (Northwest), Senior Staff Officer (welfare), Deputy Director Naval Welfare, Director Naval Inspectorate, Naval Officer in Charge (Hambanthota) and Port Facility Security Officer – Hambanthota, Deputy Area Commander North Central Naval Command, Director Naval Welfare and Flag Officer Naval Fleet were some of the other key appointments he held.
