Bomb Disposal Qualifying Course successfully concludes in Maho

Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris on 18th July 2023 presided over the insignia pinning and certificate awarding ceremony of the Bomb Disposal Qualifying Course conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy’s Bomb Disposal Training School in Maho.

The event saw 26 naval personnel were pinned with the Bomb Disposal Insignia and awarded with certificates for the successful completion of the Bomb Disposal Qualifying Course 01/2023, held from 09th January to 18th July 2023. After taking in to account the overall performances of course participants, Lieutenant Commander UGWP Kumara was adjudged the Best Officer of the course. In addition, Able Infantryman RMSP Kumara was adjudged the Best Sailor of the course. Meanwhile, Leading Transport Assistant HMS Nishshanka received the award for being selected as the ‘Best in Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

A group of officers and sailors from the Northwestern Naval Command were also present on this occasion.
