Naval Social Responsibility project ensures safe drinking water for foot pilgrims

In a commendable initiative aimed at enhancing social welfare, the Navy came forward to provide safe drinking water to pilgrims engaged in Katharagama ‘Paada Yaathra’ from 10th to 29th June 2023. The Navy, as part of its Naval Social Responsibility initiatives, set up a Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant in the Yala Lin Thuna area to quench the thirst of devotees during their arduous journey.

The initiative was set in motion following the directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera and under the supervision of Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Saman Perera. Offering a reliable supply of safe and hygienic drinking water, the RO plant has issued over 60,000 litres of water for more than 27,000 devotees.

The initiative which served as a shining example of the Navy's commitment to social responsibility and its continuous efforts to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities, received high praise from devotees and organizations.
