Navy donates electric wheelchair to permanently disabled retired senior sailor

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera donated an electric wheelchair to a permanently disabled retired senior sailor on 03rd July 2023. The donation took place at the residence of the retired Master Chief Petty Officer MUL Jayarathna, in Elpitiya.

The Navy lent ears to the request of Master Chief Petty Officer MUL Jayarathna who sought assistance from the Naval Welfare Department to obtain an electric wheelchair for his permanent disability.

Accordingly, a specially designed wheelchair devised by the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department with funds made possible by the Naval Welfare Department was handed over to the retired senior sailor.

The occasion was also attended by Rear Admiral Jayantha Gamage (Retd). and a group of officers and sailors.
