Navy bids adieu to Rear Admiral Vijitha Marapana

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera along with the Board of Management extended best wishes to the retiring senior officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Vijitha Marapana was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. As the customary event drew to a close, fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer, before he was sent off in a motorcade amidst the cheers of naval personnel.

Rear Admiral Vijitha Marapana joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 20th intake in 1990. During his illustrious naval career spanned over 33 years, the senior officer has held key appointments such as Secretary to Commander of the Navy, Captain Logistics Department (North), Captain Logistics Department (South), Deputy Director Pay, Captain Logistics Department (North Central), Captain Logistics Department (Northwest), Director Logistics and Administration (President’s House), Secretary to Commander of the Navy and Naval Secretary, Director Naval Budget and Director General Budget and Finance.
