Commander of the Navy visits Anchorage Naval Care Centre in Welisara
Coinciding with the National War Heroes’ Day, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera today (18th May 2023) visited the Anchorage Naval Care Centre in Welisara and inquired into the wellbeing of dependent naval war heroes in rehabilitation. During this visit, Commander of the Navy was accompanied by the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Mala Lamahewa.
To eliminate terrorism from the nation and protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the motherland, 1160 Navy veterans have made the ultimate sacrifice, while 517 naval personnel have sustained disabilities during their fight against terrorism.
Having found time from his schedule to join the naval personnel at the Anchorage Naval Care Centre, Commander of the Navy inquired into the wellbeing of them and shared pleasantries. Thereupon, Commander of the Navy together with the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit presented gift packs, made available by the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, to those Navy war veterans.
Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva, a group of senior officers from the Navy Headquarters and Western Naval Command, executive committee members of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit were also present on this occasion.
