Commander of the Navy opens Air Rifle Club at Naval Dockyard

In a bid to provide recreational facilities to those visiting the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera on 30th April 2023 opened the relocated Air Rifle Club in a location nearby the Naval Museum.

Following an idea mooted by Rear Admiral YN Jayarathne (Retd), one of the former Commandants of the Naval & Maritime Academy, the Air Rifle Club was earlier established at the Naval Marksmanship & Sniper Training School on 16th December 2015, for the use of naval personnel and their families.

With the Air Rifle Club now established in a new location close to the Naval Museum, Dockyard visitors can also have a unique experience. The refurbishment and relocation of the facility was carried out under the supervision of Commander Eastern Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara.
