Ranaviru Seva Authority awards scholarships to children from war hero families
The Ranaviru Seva Authority today (24th March 2023) held a programme to award scholarships to 16 children of veterans of Armed Forces and Police who died due to non-operational causes. The event was held at the Headquarters Office of Ranaviru Seva Authority under the patronage of the Chairman of the Ranaviru Seva Authority, Major General Nandana Senadeera (Retd) and it was also attended by the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Mala Lamahewa.
According to a request made by the Chairman of Ranaviru Seva Authority, these scholarships were made possible with the financial contributions of local and foreign benefactors. Under the Ranaviru Seva Authority's Parent Caretaker Scholarship Programme, these scholarships (Rs 5000 for each) are awarded to sixteen (16) children for a period of one year.
The President of Army Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Janaki Liyanage, President of Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Chamini Pathirana, Female Deputy Inspector General of Police Jayantha Padmini, distinguished invitees representing the local and foreign benefactors, children and parents of war veterans were also present on this occasion.
