New Dental Surgery Unit at SLNS Vidura declared open on World Oral Health Day
On the sidelines of World Oral Health Day (20th March), a newly constructed Dental Surgery Unit was declared open at SLNS Vidura in the Eastern Naval Command today (20th March 2023). The opening ceremony was graced by the Commander Eastern Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara.
The theme for World Oral Health Day 2023 is 'Be Proud of Your Mouth for a Life Time of Smiles'. Meanwhile, the Navy often promotes personal hygiene as those habits are essential in maintaining a good appearance and personality as military personnel.
At the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the new facility was made available with a view to expanding dental clinics and dental surgery facilities for naval personnel in Trincomalee South. The Command Civil Engineering Department provided its able manpower and industrial expertise to expedite the construction work and the proceedings of the project was supervised by the Commander Eastern Naval Area.
In addition, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara also declared open a newly built Senior Sailors’ Holiday Bungalow at SLNS Vidura, as it has been yet another long-felt need in Trincomalee South, for senor sailors in the Navy.
Command Dental Officer, Heads of Departments, senior officers from SLNS Vidura and Navy Marines, junior officers and a group of sailors were also present on this occasion.
