35th Drill Instructor Course successfully concludes at NMA
Upon successful completion of the 35th Drill Instructor Course, 20 senior and junior sailors passed out at the main parade ground of the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) today (19th January 2023). The event was graced by the Commandant NMA, Commodore Damian Fernando, as the Chief Guest.
Commenced on 01st August 2022, the course has been held for 06 months and it has been followed by 20 junior and senior ratings, including 06 women sailors. It also turned out to be the Drill Instructor Course that passed out the most number of women sailors and the one which produced a Woman Drill Instructor as the Best Drill Instructor, for the first time.
Thus, Woman Ordinary Seaman DGPW Kulasooriya won the copper plated DI whistle and chain from the Commandant NMA, having been adjudged the best Drill Instructor of the 35th Drill Instructor Course.
A host of senior naval officers and sailors from the Naval and Maritime Academy and Eastern Naval Command were also present on this occasion.
