Rear Admiral Harindra Ekanayake honoured in farewell salute
Sri Lanka Navy today (15th January 2023) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Harindra Ekanayake who relinquished naval duties to which he was committed for nearly 34 years.
Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularatne along with the Board of Management extended best wishes to the retiring senior officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Ekanayake was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. As the customary event drew to a close, fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer, before he was sent off amidst the cheers of naval personnel.
Rear Admiral Harindra Ekanayake joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 18th intake in 1988. The senior officer has held command appointments of ships and establishments of the Navy during his illustrious career. In addition, Deputy Director Naval Personnel, Director Logistic Management Cell & Director Naval Communication, Deputy Area Commander Southern Naval Area and Port Facility Security Officer (Galle Harbour), Provost Marshal and Commander Southern Naval Area are some of the key appointments he has held.
